Luxury in the Maldives is about to be reimagined.
In a destination long celebrated for its turquoise lagoons and postcard-perfect islands, Kerzner International and Assets Group are preparing to introduce a creation unlike anything the archipelago has seen before.
Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, is set to debut in the South Malé Atoll.
This is going to be marked as the next chapter in the evolution of the iconic Atlantis brand, one that blends visionary architecture with immersive experiences and a new definition of ultra-luxury hospitality.
“Atlantis The Royal, Maldives embodies our vision for shaping the future of destination experiences. This partnership with Kerzner International reflects our shared belief that innovation, sustainability, and cultural authenticity can coexist to create destinations of enduring global relevance,” Moutaz Al Khayyat, Chairman of Assets Group commented.
Located on Vaaredhdhoo Faru Island, the development spans approximately 1,368,890 square meters and features over 5.8 kilometers of beachfront. Accessible by a 10-minute seaplane or a 25-minute speedboat from Velana International Airport (Malé), the resort will offer guests an immersive arrival into one of the world’s most breathtaking archipelagos.
Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will introduce the region’s first dual-island resort, bringing together a dedicated Family Island and an exclusive Luxury Island. Across both islands, the destination will offer 493 keys, including 270 hotel rooms and 223 private villas and mansions designed for every tier of traveller.
The resort will feature an array of world-class amenities, from twenty dining venues showcasing signature Atlantis concepts and celebrity-chef restaurants to two vibrant beach clubs that extend the experience from sunrise to nightfall.
Its centrepiece, the 70,000-square-metre Aquaventure Waterpark, will include up to fifteen signature rides anchored by the iconic Neptune and Poseidon Towers. Complementing these attractions are sports academies, entertainment zones, and lifestyle facilities that position the resort as a new benchmark for leisure and family-focused luxury in the Maldives.
“With Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, we are not simply expanding that legacy, we are reinventing it,” says Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International. “Here, Atlantis The Royal will be reimagined through the lens of the Maldives architecturally, conceptually, and experientially.”
The legendary Lost Chambers Aquarium and sustainably sourced native marine life exhibits will fall under the Atlantis Atlas Project, the brand’s comprehensive sustainability programme.
The resort incorporates an extensive commitment to environmental stewardship, integrating sustainability from conceptual design to long-term operations.
Sustainability at Atlantis The Royal, Maldives is not an internal initiative, it is part of the guest experience. The resort is being shaped to preserve the very environment travellers come to see. Coral gardens will be restored and expanded, allowing guests to explore thriving reefs directly from the shoreline. Buildings are being designed to sit naturally within the island’s contours, ensuring that the landscape remains the hero.
The resort will also cultivate native seaweed and support local marine ecosystems, giving travellers a chance to witness conservation efforts first-hand. Water-saving systems and energy-efficient technology operate quietly in the background, ensuring every stay contributes to the long-term protection of the Maldives’ fragile natural beauty.
Ramez Al Khayyat, President of Assets Group adds “This milestone project reinforces our long-term strategy to develop destinations that elevate lifestyles and create lasting value for the communities we serve.”
These efforts aim to preserve the Maldives’ fragile island ecology while ensuring environmental resilience for future generations.
Dining at Atlantis The Royal, Maldives will be envisioned as a journey through some of the world’s most compelling culinary experiences. The resort will bring its signature concepts Gastronomy, The Royal Tearoom, and the acclaimed Ossiano to the shores of the Maldives, each adapted to the rhythm and flavour of the islands. Alongside these flagship venues, a curated selection of celebrity-chef restaurants will deliver global craftsmanship with a distinctly Maldivian character. Beach clubs and immersive dining lounges will extend the experience from day to night, offering travellers a blend of sophistication, creativity, and barefoot luxury
The resort’s wellness offerings will span a world-class spa, a botanical alchemy zone, cutting-edge longevity treatments, an overwater yoga and breathwork deck, a recovery studio, and an indoor-outdoor fitness centre. Retail avenues will feature luxury boutiques, with event spaces designed to accommodate both intimate gatherings and large-scale celebrations.
The launch of Atlantis The Royal Maldives will uplift local communities through new opportunities and sustained economic growth, offer travellers a more immersive and responsible form of luxury, and reinforce the companies’ shared vision of creating destinations that shape the future of global hospitality.
